India is becoming a hotspot for automobile manufacturers. Every auto manufacturer has set sight on India to sell its line of vehicles. Auto experts are least surprised that auto manufacturers are suddenly introducing their line of cars in the Indian automobile market.
Ford has revealed that the new Mondeo (launched as Ford Fusion in US car market) will be introduced in India, other Asian and European markets by 2013. The fourth generation Mondeo in India will be pitted against Toyota Camry and Honda Accord. The new Ford Mondeo is expected to be priced between Rs 20-26 lakhs in the Indian car market, fairly similar to other cars in its segment. Ford Mondeo will be built on One Ford ideology.
Opinion about the new Ford Mondeo being manufactured at the Gujarat plant is divided. Experts point out that the Ford's new plant in Gujarat will be set up by 2014 and the new Mondeo is expected to roll out in 2013. This suggests that the new Ford Mondeo will be manufactured at Ford's manufacturing unit in Chennai. Let's hope the new Mondeo makes its way on Indian roads soon.
