Ford India confirms unveiling of global compact car at Auto Expo
Ford is getting ready to unveil a global concept car for the first time, at the upcoming Auto Expo 2014. Based on their global design philosophy, the new global concept has been designed keeping demands of Indian customers in mind.
Sales of compact car going to double by 2018. In order to capitalize on this demand, Ford is planning this new compact car. To be based on Fordâ€™s global design philosophy, which now applies to most of Ford vehicles around the globe, the new concept car from Ford, sports a signature hexagonal grille and slanted headlamps as seen in the teaser below.
This concept car from Ford is expected to be fuel efficient, and spacious with comfortable seating for upto 5 adults. The Ford concept might also features air conditioning, central docking station for mobile devices and SYNC â€“ the new in-car connectivity system designed to help users access the virtual world with the sound of their voice.
Ford stall at the Auto Expo will also see the Ford Figo, Ford Classic, Ford Fiesta, EcoSport and Endeavor besides the new concept car in attendance. For more information, scroll through the press release below.
Ford to Unveil New Global Concept, Showcase Smart Technologies at 12th New Delhi Auto Expo 2014
?NEW DELHI, India â€“ Ford will unveil a new global concept vehicle at this yearâ€™s 12th New Delhi Auto Expo 2014. Based on a global design philosophy, but created to serve the specific needs of consumers in India, the concept will showcase Fordâ€™s vision for the future in the competitive compact-car segment in India and other dynamic emerging markets.
With Asia Pacific set to account for nearly a third of Fordâ€™s global sales volume by mid-decade â€“ up from 15 percent in 2010 â€“ the concept will give visitors a glimpse into the kind of vehicle that Ford expects to play an important role in the region.
The compact car segment is the most competitive segment in India and has been outpacing the industry for the past decade making up almost a third of total sales in 2013. Ford expects compact car sales in India to grow from about 1 million units last year to roughly 2 million units in 2018 reflecting the significance of compact cars to Indian consumers.

Fordâ€™s product-driven transformation will be on full display at the Auto Expo, with a dynamic and interactive exhibit of the vehicles and technologies that have helped the company to grow its brand in India.
Visitors will be greeted by a full display of Ford vehicles for India, with the Ford Figo, Ford Classic, Ford Fiesta, Ford EcoSport and Ford Endeavour displaying the latest look and feel for 2014. The stand has also been designed to engage visitors with lively and interactive activities demonstrating Fordâ€™s green, safe and smart technologies.
Fordâ€™s leadership as a provider of fuel-efficient, fun-to-drive cars will be highlighted with the multi-award winning 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine, available in the Ford EcoSport. While it is the smallest engine in its class, Fordâ€™s EcoBoost technology means it produces power equivalent to a traditional 1.6-litre petrol engine, while using 20 percent less fuel and producing just 126g of CO2 per kilometre.
The EcoBoost Touch Table will give visitors a visceral sensation of the power of a turbocharged engine. Featuring two high-powered fans to simulate forced induction, visitors will have the chance to take and share souvenir photos showing them being quite literally blown away.
A virtual-reality cricket game also will showcase the power and performance of Fordâ€™s EcoBoost engine, while allowing visitors to enjoy the passion and spirit of a game of cricket. Players will be invited to hit an â€śEcoBoost ballâ€ť using a virtual â€śPower and Performance batâ€ť to show off their cricketing skills while learning more about the capabilities of EcoBoost engines.
Accessing your digital world with just the sound of your voice is at the core of Fordâ€™s SYNCÂ® in-car connectivity system. Visitors to Fordâ€™s display will be able to experience this power through a SYNC Driving Game. Using nothing more than SYNC voice commands, visitors can compete against their friends, driving digital racing cars and sharing their scores through email and social media.
Illustrating the flexibility and personalisation possible with SYNC, which allows users to control some of their favourite smartphone apps with voice commands, the Ford display will include a SYNC DJ Booth. Using their mobile phones, visitors can interact with the DJ and request songs.
In Fordâ€™s Safety Zone, visitors will have the opportunity to learn about Fordâ€™s advanced safety technologies, including Emergency Assist, which uses SYNC to automatically connect drivers with emergency operators following a serious accident. Visitors can also learn tips on how to be smarter, safer and greener drivers from Fordâ€™s Driving Skills for Life programme.
