Ford EcoSport deliveries to speed-up as third shift planned
Overwhelming demand for Ford EcoSport compact SUV has seen a longer waiting period. To tackle this long line of eager buyers, the company has announced the introduction of a third shift at its Maraimalainagar Plant.
It has been more than one year ever since the Ford EcoSport has been launched and yet demand has not ebbed, while waiting period as on date stands at 3 months. Noting increased demand for lower variants of EcoSport such as the 1.5 Ambient version, the company has decided to add one more shift. Claims emerge that these lower variants are not as profitable for the company which is the main reason for limited supply, however company assertsĀ that demand is high for mid and topendĀ variants and they are not limiting manufacture of lower variants.
Launched in June 2013, Ford EcoSport came in with a price tag of INR 5.59 lakhs and has been one of the most successful vehicles in India from the start. Ford India increased prices of EcoSport on many occasions but this did not hamperĀ its demand. Ford EcoSport has not only seen outstanding performance in India but in each market where it has been launched thus putting added pressure on production. The success of Ford EcoSport has been noteworthy to the extent that it has managed to woo customers away from Renault Duster and also from cars such as Maruti Suzuki Swift and Hyundai i10.
Ever since launch, Ford has sold a total of 63,598 units of EcoSport with sales peaking in September 2013 with a total of 6,203 units sold. EcoSport sales could touch a new high with the company taking a decision to add one more shift to cater to the demands of loyal customers.
