Domestic wholesale and export sale of vehicles registered by Ford for the month of January 2013 were at 9,137 and 1,652 units respectively, totaling to 10,789 units. For Jan 2013, Ford India sold a total of 7,115 units, resulting in a total decline of sales by 34%.
Ford India says, that these figures were achieved in a market scenario which has been plagued by challenges arising due to hikes in fuel and interest rates. Despite these challenges being faced, Ford India hopes to create a widespread customer base over the next few years by bringing in vehicles from its ONE Ford stable later on. The Pongal and Makarsankranti festivities enabled many customers to buy their Ford vehicles as there were many offers and attractive benefits up for grabs during this period. Ford has a wide network of dealership outlets spread over India that cater to needs of their customers. Currently Ford has 250 outlets in 130 cities and looks to expand its network to 500 by mid decade.
Ford India now looks forward to the launch of new Ecosport with 1.0L EcoBoost engine, the launch of which is scheduled for early 2013. The EcoSport SUV has been in its final stage of test runs and has been already spotted by car enthusiasts across many Indian cities.
