Ford Motors to overtake Honda and Toyota in China?
Ford Motor Company sold a total of 96,111 units in China during the month of September 2013. This increase of 61% over sales in September 2012 was driven by increased demand and a new product lineup.
Besides overwhelming September 2013 sales, the Dearborn based auto maker has also seen outstanding results in the first nine months of this year during which period they sold a total of 647,849 units in China, marking a 51% increase as compared to sales in the same period of 2012.
These outstanding sales show that Ford Motor Company is set to take on rivals such as Toyota Motor Corp and Honda Motor Company surging ahead to be in the big league of auto manufacturers in China, where Volkswagen still leads by a huge margin. Ford has set a target of reaching sales of well over 900,000 units during the current year while Toyota too has set target on 900,000, while Honda expects to sell around 750,000 in China during 2013. Pundits expect Ford to beat Japanese rivals.
