2015 Ford Mustang gets even safer with passenger knee airbags

Twice as many airbags, high-tech safety gadgets, advanced chassis and body design technology will all be seen on board 2015 Ford Mustang. Projected as the safest of all cars from Ford ever, 2015 Mustang will see the introduction of some novel safety features.

On board the 2015 Mustang, Ford is introducing a new inflatable airbag restraint design that offers protection to front seat passenger. This knee airbag is in an advanced design and comes packed inside the glove box door with 15 patents already granted to its design with more to come.

2015 Ford Mustang is the most structurally advanced and safest Mustang ever. It comes in with improved stability and independent rear suspension system which will go a long way to reduce accidents due to loss of control.

2015 ford mustang price revealedBesides this, there are other safety features such as sensors, safety belt anchor pre-tensioners, improved exterior lighting and two fold increase in airbags. These new knee airbags are made of pliable, injection moulded plastic bladder sandwiched between the inner and outer glove box door panels.

On impact, the inflator fills up this bladder pushing it out of the glove box outer door panel and towards passenger’s legs, cushioning them from impact. When comparing this Ford Mustang airbag design to any other knee airbag design it is found that the Ford Mustang knee airbag is 65% lighter while inflator is 75% smaller so as to fit in a compact and more efficient manner.
