Ford Motors have announced that they will no longer pursue their plan to move their SUV manufacturing unit from Europe to Kentucky. It seems the fluctuating currency exchange rates have spoiled their plans for a US production unit.
Ford had earlier decided to move their Saarlouis, Germany unit to Louisville, Kentucky because of lower labour costs and the rising value of US Dollar in the world economy. But according to a senior Ford Motor official, who wants to remain anonymous, Ford will continue with Kuga in Germany only. The dipping Euro is helping Ford to continue with their manufacturing unit in Germany.
Ford Motors spokesperson, Mr. Mark Truby said, "We are on track to begin production next year of a new vehicle from our global C-car platform at the Louisville Assembly Plant. Though we are not providing product details, we intend to fully utilize capacity at the transformed facility."
