American car manufacturer, Ford Motors has brought the 2013 Shelby GT500 to the Goodwood Festival of Speed, which went live earlier today. Shelby GT500 2013 variant is the most powerful Mustang muscle car ever to be manufactured. Guest race drivers will be driving the 2013 Ford Shelby GT500 up the Goodwood hill. By bringing their most powerful car to Goodwood, Ford is paying tribute to Caroll Shelby, the man behind Mustang muscle cars. Mr Shelby passed away on 10th May this year at the age of 89 years.

The unveiling at Goodwood, is also the first public showcase of Shelby GT500 outside North America. Ford unveiled the 2013 Shelby GT500 at the Los Angeles Auto Show back in November last year. Being the most powerful Mustang, Shelby GT500 2013 is powered by a 5.8L supercharged V8 that generates 662 bhp and peak torque of 631 lb-ft (855 Nm). One interesting fact about this powerful car is that it has no grille! This is because the engine requires immense cooling and placing a grille would hinder that.

Shelby GT500 2013 has a topspeed of 200 mph (320 kmph) and does a 0-60 mph (0-100 kmph) in just 3.5 seconds and crosses the 125 mph (200 kmph) mark in just 11.6 seconds, which makes it faster than Corvette Z06 and Camaro ZL1. At the Chicago Auto Show in February this year, Ford announced that they will be launching a convertible variant of 2013 Shelby GT500. 2013 Shelby GT500 coupe is available in US with a starting price of $54,200.
