General Motors is eager to boost sales, targeting younger customers and customers who value vehicles with a higher level of fuel economy. Following increased focus on the company’s new products such as Buick Verano, Cadillac XTS and Cadillac ATS, the company saw enhanced sales in this category while sales on the crossover and truck section increased 9% and 11% respectively.
Cadillac, Buick and Chevrolet received increased attention where their Passenger car sales were concerned. Cadillac recorded a 77% increase in sales while Buick witnessed a 22% increase and Chevrolet, a 13% increase. Strong car sales in November could be attributed to the effect of Hurricane Sandy. This devastation was cited as a major factor for increased sales in November but proved to be just a drop in the ocean as compared to auto maker’s expectations. Analysts had expected auto sales to reach about 1.1 million, however sales of just 30,000 turned out to be weather related
