General Motors India has announced that Friday will be the date for launch of their new 2013 Chevrolet Sail. Once successfully launched, this vehicle will compete with Toyota Etios, Maruti Swift Dzire, Hyundai Verna and VW Vento sedan, and will also rival the yet to be launched Honda Amaze. This will be the first offering from General Motors’ stables for the current year under Chevrolet brand.
Sail sedan will be based on Sail U-VA platform and will be offered in both petrol and diesel options again with same engine specifications as seen in the hatchback model. Where its diesel engine is concerned, a 1.3 liter turbocharged diesel engine is expected with it will also come in with a 1.2 liter petrol engine. Safety features will be at a premium and will include speed sensitive auto door locks, anti lock brake system, electronic brake force distribution system and a host of airbags, seat belts, collapsible steering system and side impact beams on doors which are sure to make passengers thoroughly secure in its confines.
Though the company will be declaring pricing only at time of launch, the upcoming Sail sedan from Chevrolet is expected to come in within a range of Rs.6.5 to Rs.7.5 lakhs. It won’t be long before the Chevrolet Enjoy MPV is launched here.
