General Motors India has announced that they will be embarking on a massive expansion spree when it comes to their dealership networks. The company hopes to have over 300 dealerships by end of this financial year. GM will basically be concentrating on Tier II and Tier III cities where they have found that it is here that demand is on the rise. General Motors India currently has 279 sales points and 272 service outlets spread across the length and breadth of the country.

Starting this month, General Motors will be opening new dealer showrooms in cities like Bangalore, Hissar, Una, Nawashehar, Rohtak and Amritsar while new showrooms and service outlets will come up in metros and other parts of the country.
As part of their endeavor to improve their sales, service and customer satisfaction, GM will also be starting some novel programmes such as a centralized 24×7 call centre to offer immediate information to customers on the company’s various products and services. The company is also bent on boosting the Chevrolet ownership experience with a host of warranties, breakdown service helpline and free service camps.

Sales of General Motors have not been too encouraging during the month of August 2012. Sales dipped by 17% and stood at 7510 units as against 9050 units sold in the month of August 2011. During August 2012 the company sold 530 units of Spark, 4226 units of Beat, 139 units of Aveo and 337 units of Cruze. Sales were dismal due to markets remaining sluggish following higher interest rates and rising fuel prices however the company is optimistic of seeing great improvement during the upcoming festive season.
