German students car ad shows Hitler die as a young boy
The automatic braking system of the luxury sedan in action depicted in a Youtube video may at first glance look like commercial for Mercedes but is in fact an effort of film students from the Film Academy in Ludwigsburg.
Filmed in what is reminiscent of Austrian village at an earlier time, the video shows young Adolf Hitler flying a kite. As he crosses the street, the latest Mercedes Benz C Class speeds past and despite the fact that the car is fitted with much acclaimed Collision Prevention Assist System, the car does not sense Hitler’s presence and runs him over even though the feature previously helped the car avoid hitting two girls in the village.
What students, Tobias Haase, Jan Mettler, Lydia Lohse and Gun Aydemir was trying to portray in this commercial is that Collision Prevention Assist System can sense danger before it comes up but due to obvious reasons, the commercial has not met with favor where Mercedes Benz is concerned. The unauthorized feature does present a few questiosn pertaining to what would the world be like if machines have a soul? Where it could lead, if technology makes decisions about life and death? And most importantly an event that would change world history?
