The new shirt deal kicks-off Chevrolet’s 7 year agreement as Man Utd’s shirt sponsor. Fans online can sign up to virtually wear and share the new shirt via social media as part of Chevrolet’s “What Do You #PlayFor?” global campaign.
Chevrolet’s video release today features Manchester United players, legends and fans and covers the journey of Manchester United shirts dating back to the start in 1878. Fans from over the years are seen marching down the streets of Manchester, singing the “Glory, Glory Man Utd” anthem, eventually arriving at Old Trafford. Players Wayne Rooney, Juan Mata, Robin van Persie and David De Gea, alongwith assistant manager Ryan Giggs are seen at the forefront. The video ends before the shirt reveal, for which fans must wait for the July 7 debut.
9 of Manchester United’s legends, Sir Bobby Charlton, Alex Stepney, Denis Law, Lou Macari, Arthur Albiston, Norman Whiteside, Clayton Blackmore, Denis Irwin and Gary Pallister appear in the video. The full video will be released on July 7th to celebrate Chevrolet’s shirt debut.
Manchester United players will debut the new tee in a match against L.A. Galaxy at Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif., in the Chevrolet Cup on July 23rd. Chevrolet is also presenting sponsor of Manchester United’s Aug. 2 match vs Real Madrid at Michigan Stadium. A fan moment is planned for Manchester United’s 2014-15 opening Premier League match in August against Swansea City FC.
Chevrolet is Manchester United’s 5th shirt sponsor in 136 years. The new sponsorship presence takes Chevrolet to the club’s more than 659 million followers. Since the partnership began more than 2 years ago, Chevrolet pledged to bring fans closer to the game.
