GM India confirms Chevrolet Sail hatch to be launched on 2nd Nov 2012: Pre-book a test drive now

Indian auto markets are gearing to cash in on enhanced sales during the auspicious Diwali festival and hence upcoming products are being advertised, launches are being scheduled accordingly and enticing new updates are appearing on company websites. This is exactly what is happening where General Motors India is concerned. The new Chevrolet Aveo U-VA has appeared on the company’s official website and the vehicle is scheduled for launch on 2nd November, just a few days prior to Diwali 2012. Sail U-VA petrol is to expected to be priced from Rs.4.5 lakhs while prices of the diesel base model will start from Rs.5.5 lakhs.

This premium hatchback once launched will compete with Maruti Suzuki Swift, Volkswagen Polo and the Hyundai i20. It is being jointly developed by both General Motors and SAIC, the company’s Chinese counterparts and will be offered with both in petrol and diesel engines which is what most Indian buyers are looking forward to.

Sail U-VA promises to have enhanced interior space upholstered in beige making interiors appear brighter and roomier. It will be fitted with a 1.3 liter multijet engine which the company is developing jointly with Fiat and which is expected to offer fuel efficiency of 22.1 kmpl. The 1.2 liter petrol four cylinder engine will offer slightly less fuel efficiency pegged at 18.2 kmpl.

General Motors along with SAIC have a lot planned in the not too distant future. After the successful launch of Sail U-VA, two more products are being scheduled which will include a Sail sedan and a seven seater MPV, which will be called Enjoy and is expected to hit markets in the next few weeks.
