GM India sales dip 4.79% in Sep 2013: Chevrolet Beat facelift spied?
General Motors India Pvt. Ltd. (GMIPL) has reported a 4.79% decline in sales during the month of September 2013. During the past month, company sales stood at 7,048 units as against 7,403 units in September 2012. To counter sales decline, GM will soon launch new products. Recently, a Chevrolet Beat facelift was spied In Gujarat.
The company was however optimistic of sales of Beat hatchback while they have temporarily brought production operations of Tavera to a halt. However, the upcoming festive season holds some promise for the company during which time they expect to see increased sales. GMIPL operates from its vehicle manufacturing plants in Halol, Gujarat and Talegaon Dabhade in Maharashtra. These two production plants have a combined production capacity of 385,000 units annually.
Apart from this, GM India has been working on launching the Beat facelift for quite some time now. Recently, Indian Autos Blog spotted the car on while it was on test (see image below). First shown at the Paris Motor Show last year, the new Beat (known as Spark in Europe) features new front bumper, restyled headlights, new alloys, re-designed foglights, and subtle interior updates.
The new Beat is expected to feature at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo, which is scheduled to take place in February 2014. After the display, the car will be launched in India. Engine options are expected to remain same with 1.2l petrol (/with LPG) and 0.9l diesel option.
