Guerlain Chicherit gets behind his Mini for world’s longest car jump attempt
After becoming the first man to successfully backflip a car in 2013, Monster Energy’s Guerlain Chicherit is keen on another World Record. Tomorrow, he will attempt to beat the current longest car ramp jump record of 101 metres in his one-of-a-kind MINI in his hometown Tignes, France this week. This is the same location of his backflip record last year.
After hours over practice through winter, the MINI preperaed in the US with his team of engineers, the car arrived in France just over a week ago to prepare for the record. His testing programme has run well so far, having landed 71 metres in his first run on Tuesday, and an 80 metre jump on Thursday, followed by a third jump.
The attempt requires him to attain top speed of 200 kph before launching from a specially-prepared metal ramp towards the huge snow landing. He said, “I feel quite good with the car – it’s flying really well. We still have twenty metres to go which is quite far but we are all positive and we will do our best to beat the world record. Maybe by five or ten metres if possible!”
