Gulf Oil Corporation’s 12th edition of Gulf Foster a Child Car Drive was organized by Sportscraft and was held on February 16th, 2014. The drive with a purpose began at Maharashtra State Police Housing and Welfare Corp. to reach Hotel Duke’s Retreat, in Khandala, at around 13.00 IST. Participants decorated their cars and themes of Child Labour and Reduce, Recycle & Reuse were highlighted.

Each car’s crew is made up of a driver, navigator and minimum one child as well as an orphan child. The driver and crew had to decipher a route chart (Tulip chart) and also answer various general knowledge questions ranging from Sports, current affairs, Bollywood, Hollywood etc. at pit-stops.

The smile and laughter of each child as they undergo this unique experience is worth every moment of effort. We look at raising the bar and hope to continue with the success rate of this activity.”

One of the participating families commented, “This is the 9th year I have been participating in this event and it’s for a cause that I have been associated with. More than anything it is just to have fun with these kids and enjoy the Fun Drive. We would like to congratulate the Gulf Oil & Sportscraft team who have conceptualized & organized this event. We couldn’t have enjoyed our Sunday better.”

In all 40 families participated, and 5 prizes were given to overall winners. Gulf also gave 2 prizes for all-ladies’ teams and winners were selected based on right route, time taken at each pit stop and number of right answers. Prizes were given to best decorated car and the best dressed team. 1st prize overall winner was Mr. Suraj Deshmukh, while the 1st All Ladies Team prize was bagged by Ms. Geeta Castelino team. The Best Decorated car was also bagged by Ms Geeta Castelino while the Best Dressed team prize was taken home by Ms Sonal Sawant & Fly.
