Hero Motocorp, TVS, Bajaj and Honda sales growth for June ’14

Hero MotoCorp sold 541,594 units in June 2014 over 502,279 units sold in June 2013 to register 8% sales growth. For Q2 2014, Hero sold 571,054 units and 602,481 units in April and May. In June, Hero MotoCorp began production at its 4th manufacturing plant at Neemrana, Rajasthan and also began deliveries. Installed capacity here is 750,000 units. In all now Hero MotoCorp has a total annual installed capacity of 7.65 million units. Hero’s Global Parts Centre (GPC) at Neemrana is also operational now.

TVS Motor Company sold 202,177 units in June 2014 over 164,128 units sold in June 2013 to report 23% sales growth. TVS’ total exports for last month account for 32,290 units over 26,047 units in June 2013 equating to 24% sales growth. Two wheeler exports accounted for 25,237 units in June 2014 over 20,020 units in June 2013 to report 26% sales growth.

Total two wheeler sales growth was 23% with 193,758 units sold in June 2014 over 157,351 units in June 2013. Hero two wheeler sales in India reported 23% growth at 168,521 units sold in June 2014 over 137,331 units sold in June 2013. Scooters sales growth was 46% from 38,684 units sold in June 2013 to 56,524 units in June 2014. Motorcycles sales growth of 27% accounted for 74,772 units sold in June 2014 over 59,015 units sold in June 2013. Recently launched TVS StaR City+ has been well received.

TVS three wheeler sales stood at 8,419 units in June 2014 over 6,777 units sold in June 2013 to report 24% sales growth. TVS Motor Company total sales for Q1 financial year 2014-15 stands at 584,440 units over 475,362 units sold in Q1 FY 2013-14 equating to 23% growth.

In Jun-14 Bajaj sold 2,62,202 motorcycles over 2,54,544 units sold in Jun-13 to report 3% sales growth. Bajaj commercial vehicles sales stood at 43,263 last month over 41,205 units sold in June 2013 to report 5% sales growth. Total bajaj sales for June stand at 3,05,465 units over
2,95,749 units sold in June 2013 to report 3% sales growth.

Bajaj’s exports of the above sales figures stood at 1,35,074 units for June 2014 over 1,20,399 units in June 2013 to account for 12% sales YTD Apr-June 2014 Bajaj motorcycle sales stand at 8,74,858 over 8,60,151 units sold in Apr-June 2013 to reflect 2% sales growth. Bajaj commercial vehicles sales through Apr-June 2014 stood at 1,13,572 units. When compared to 1,19,124 units sold in Apr-June 2013, it equates to 5% sales decline. Bajaj’s overall sales for Apr-June 2014 stood at 9,88,430 over 9,79,275 units sold in Apr-June 2013 equating to 1% sales growth. Of total sales, exports in Apr-June 2014 stood at 4,41,967 units over 3,62,563 units in Apr-June 2013 to equate to 22% sales growth.

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India overall sales for June 2014 stood at 323,224 units, equating to 28% YOY sales growth over 251,936 units sold in June 2013. Of this HMSI motorcycle sales stood at 151,105 units and scooter sales at 172,119 units in June 2014. When compared to 120,686 motorcycles and 131,250 scooters sold in June 2013, it equates to 25% and 31% sales growth respectively. YTD HMSI sales are almost at a million units.

During Rath Yatra in Gujarat, HMSI recorded highest single day retail at almost 7500 units sold. Q1 2014-15 for HMSI sees 34% sales growth at about 2.5 times of total two wheeler industry growth. Q2 2014 growth for motorcycles as well as scooters stand at 34% each. Taking into account 1,445,320 2W industry total sales, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India market share for June 2014 stands at a tentative 25% in the domestic market and 22% in Dom+Exp market share.
