Hero aims to double two wheeler sales by 2020
Hero MotoCorp is targeting extensive growth both where domestic sales and exports are concerned. Hoping to sell 12 million (1.2 crore) units by 2020, is a part of the companyâ€™s â€˜Vision 2020â€™ growth plan.
Hero MotoCorp also plans a new R&D facility in Kukas, Jaipur and is currently working on new products based on new platforms to change its perception from a mass commuter bike maker to a strong player in the two wheeler market in the country.
Hero MotoCorp, with a target of 12 million units sales by 2020 have just appointed former BMW designer,Â Markus Braunsperger as its new Head of R&D Division. The company aspires to have more than 20 manufacturing units and assembly plants across the globe with sale in over 50 countries.
Targeting double digit growth from 6.2 million units sold in 2013, the company is actively building on capacities and is in the process of selection a location in South India for their sixth manufacturing unit in the country. As on date, the company has its plants situated in Northern India with two in Haryana, one in Uttarakhand and Rajasthan and an upcoming plant in Halol, Gujarat.
Keen to protect its position as the worldâ€™s largest two wheeler maker, Hero MotoCorp is working on new products based on new platforms which were displayed at the 2014 Auto Show earlier this year. These products include a HX250R, Hastur 620 and a diesel concept bike.
