Hero MoroCorp, currently in a leading position in India’s two wheeler industry sees motorcycles sales stand at 4,62,626 units while Honda, has total motorcycle sales standing at 1,48,062 units with most demand seen in the Dream series. Honda has however surpassed Hero MotoCorp where scooter sales are concerned with total sales standing at 2,15,925 units as against Hero scooter sales at 52,792 units with Maestro being a crowd puller.
Both have their respective winner in the form of Splendor and Activa. As it stands for July 2014, Honda Activa sales during the month of July now total 1,91,879 units while Hero sales after including that of Super Splendor go upto 1,93,442 units. While the difference is just marginal, experts believe that Honda is well on their way to become No 1 two wheeler producer in the coming years.
Honda Activa boasts of higher level of efficiency, on board comforts and advanced features and commands an edge over Hero Splendor despite the fact that the latter is more affordably priced and offers higher level of fuel efficiency. This indicates that buyers in India put comfort and convenience in top priority list when purchasing a two wheeler as they do fuel efficiency and added mileage. Hero MotoCorp’s two other models, Passion and HF Dawn/Deluxe were in third and fourth position with 1,16,302 and 90,036 units sold respectively for July 2014.
