Honda Brio Amaze

Honda Amaze is expected to make its entry on April 11, 2013 in both petrol and diesel guise. The highlight of the launch of this sub 4 meter compact sedan is its 1.5L diesel engine, that it is looked upon as a keen contender to the Maruti Swift DZire.

DZire is the segment leader, in which the Honda Amaze will be launched. Powered by Fiat sourced 1.3L MultiJet engine, it delivers a mileage of 23.4 kmpl. Power output figures of DZire diesel stand at 75 PS and 190 Nm, while the price ranges from INR 5.99 lakhs to INR 7.50 lakhs (ex-showroom).

Honda India is yet to reveal the engine specs of the Amaze diesel, but in a chat with Jnaneshwar Sen, Senior VP, Marketing and Sales, Honda Car India, it was revealed that the diesel engine will deliver an unmatched mileage and power output figures.

Mileage and price, are the two main points kept in mind by car buyers in India. We do not know if the new diesel engine from Honda beats the mileage and power output figures set by Maruti DZire, but if what Mr Sen said, turns out to be true, Honda India have a real winner in the form of Amaze diesel sedan.

Maruti Suzuki India sells about 15,000 units of DZire every month, while Honda India total sales stand at about 6,000. So, if the Amaze is priced aggressively, Honda Amaze can eat a major chunk of DZire sales.
