Honda Amaze sedans drive 63% India sales increase in August 2013
Falling car sales and a depreciating Rupee had little impact on sales of Honda Cars India Limited, as the company reported a 63% increase in sales in August 2013.
HCIL registered domestic sales to the tune of 8,913 units in August 2013 as compared to 5,470 units in August 2012. Exports totaled 566 units in the past month and the company looks ahead at the upcoming festive season with a great deal of optimism.
It was the recently launch, Honda Amaze which saw the most demand as the company sold a total of 6,242 units. Production of Amaze was boosted so as to ensure shorter waiting periods. Besides the Amaze, it was the Honda Brio that was also in demand with 1,508 units sold while 953 units of City, 62 units of Accord and 148 units of CR-V were also sold in August. These domestic sales along with exports of 556 units took total sales of the company to 6,469 units in August 2013.
Honda Amaze sales have reached 30,000, a new milestone in history of Honda’s Indian operations. HCIL also registered 65% growth in the period April to August 2013 with 49,263 units sold as against 29,932 units sold in the same period in the previous year.
