Honda BR-V leaks before Indonesia Motor Show official debut

Teased in June this year, the first photos of Honda BR-V SUV has finally been shared online. Based on the Brio platform, Honda BR-V compact SUV is to be revealed tomorrow at the Indonesia International Motor Show.

BR-V stands for Bold Runabout Vehicle. Design of new Honda BR-V is inspired from the Vision XS-1 Concept which was on display at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo.

Design features include tapered A pillar, sloping roofline, heavily contoured bonnet and side profile, large logo on the front grille, ample chrome in the front and rear, plastic cladding on all sides, roof rails, silver scuff plates in the front and rear, projector headlamps, 3D LED taillights, new sporty alloys, and a high ground clearance.

Codenamed 2SJ internally, Honda has designed the BR-V for developing markets like Indonesia, Thailand and India. Expected to be launched in India by H2 2016, it will be offered in a choice of petrol and diesel engine options.

Petrol engine will be in the form of 1.5L iVTEC which delivers 118 PS at 6600 rpm and 145 Nm torque at 4600 rpm. Diesel engine will be in the form of 1.5l iDTEC which generates 100 PS power at 3600 rpm and 200 Nm torque at 1750 rpm. Both these engines are seen on the new Honda City sedan in India.
