Honda Cars India will be launching their all new Brio based sedan, which was christened Amaze earlier this month, by April 2013 in the Indian auto industry. Once launched, Honda Brio Amaze will directly compete with the segment leader, Maruti Suzuki DZire, which easily clocks 12,000 units every month . Honda’s new Brio sedan will be available in both petrol and diesel powered options, and also with an automatic gearbox. Honda will first launch Brio Amaze with manual gearbox and later on, introduce the automatic gearbox to car buyers in India.

In an interview with Mr Jnaneshwar Sen, Senior VP, Sales & Marketing, Honda Cars India, he stated that he has driven the Honda Brio Amaze diesel. According to him, the new Honda diesel car for India will be something the Indian auto industry is yet to experience. Powerful and more efficient than its competitors, the Honda Brio Amaze will also be lighter than the Maruti DZire.

Honda is yet to reveal technical details of the Brio Amaze sedan for India, but it is certain that it will be powered by an all aluminium 1.5L i-DTEC turbocharged diesel engine. Honda Amaze will first be launched in Thailand, where it will be locally manufactured. In India as well, Honda Brio Amaze will be locally manufactured from their plant in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. With the launch of their first diesel car for India, Honda expects to regain their declining car sales.
