The Honda Brio AT (automatic) hatchback will make its foray in the Indian car market on 18th October 2012. This vehicle has been infused with features and functions which are preferred by many individuals. The company hopes that with launch of this car, it will be able to wean away people from the Hyundai i10 automatic which is the Brio’s main competitor.
The Honda brio auomatic hatchback will be powered by a 1.2 liter i-VTEC engine which is capable of producing 90 bhp of power and 110 Nm of torque. A 5-speed automatic torque converter will replace the 5-speed manual gear box seen in its previous version. The 5-speed automatic transmission set is ahead in the competition when compared to the Hyundai i10, i20 and the Maruti A-star which boast of 4-speed automatic gear box transmissions. The gear box is being borrowed from the Honda City with ratios changed to match the Brio’s engine.
Though the torque converter is heavier, it’s more efficient than the CVT box and economical. This will help to lower prices for the Brio and thereby attract more customers. An impressive average of 16.5 kmpl and a price tag of Rs. 60,000- 70,000 more will propel the Brio further into the automobile sector with an estimated price tag of Rs 4,78,411.
