The 11 month period April 2012 to February 2013 has seen Honda Cars India Limited, the completely owned division of Japan-based Honda Motor Company record cumulative growth to the tune of 46%. Company sales touched the 63,439 mark as compared to 43,411 units in the same period of the previous year.

Exports during February 2013 totaled 510 units while total sales during the month totaled 6,510 units as compared to 8,856 units in February 2012. This resulted in a decline to the tune of 26.44% during the month of February 2013. During February 2013, HCIL sold 3,271 units of City sedan, 2,916 units of Brio, besides 185 units of Jazz, 21 units of Civic and 62 units of Accord sedan.

While the company hoped that March 2013 would see a change in statistics, the current Union Budget and rising petrol prices has put a spanner in the works with no silver lining to their dark cloud. New models are planned for the coming few months. Top of the list is Honda Amaze featuring the company’s first diesel engine in the country. Honda Brio Diesel is also on the cards while new utility vehicles are also expected to be launched soon.
