Honda CBR 150R to get new colour schemes in Thailand

New look of Honda CBR 150R is presented in three dual-tone skins with carbon black as common denominator for red, white and black colour blends. Angular carbon-fibre looking patch on front fairing and dual converging streaks encasing it and turn indicators define the new look of CBR 150R sports bike. Rest of fairing (lower part) is finished in piano black.

Update to CBR 150R is an attempt to remain in the ring against Yamaha R15’s sharp looks and serious fan base. Refreshed design will certainly help A.P Honda sell good number of CBR 150R bikes but the question is whether it will be passed on to other markets, say Indonesia, India and others?

As current edition of CBR 150R in Indonesia is imported as CBU from Thailand, it lacks further competitiveness against newly launched version 2.0 Yamaha R15. Price of existing CBR 150R in Indonesia is 41.7502 million Rupiah (Rs. 2,08,667 approx.), whereas Yamaha R15 version 2.0 costs just 28 million Rupiah (Rs. 1,39,944 approx.). The difference in price doesn’t seem to justify opting for Honda, considering performance and looks comparison.

Currently Honda CBR 150R in Indonesia hosts a mono cylinder liquid cooled 149.4cc engine that pushes out 17.57 bhp max. power @ 10,500 rpm and 12.66 Nm peak torque @ 8,500 rpm. Power is sent to wheels via a 6-speed manual gearbox.

However back in Thailand, it is unclear if the update will demand a hike in price tag, as no mechanical changes are expected.

PS: Expect a whole new CBR 150R facelift to hit Indonesian roads in few months. This model should be priced closely to Yamaha R15 as it is expected to be based on same frame as Honda K15. Click here to know more.
