Honda announces 2016 Auto Expo and CBR 650F launch plans

Second largest two wheeler manufacturer in India, Honda has announced exciting new plans today at a media round table conference. These new plans is a strategy which will make sure that their growth in the country is sustained.

Speaking to journalists, Mr. Keita Muramatsu –President & CEO, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. and President, Honda Motor India, said that for the next two years, the company has devised a new business plan. This plan revolves around three words – Retain, Expand and Create.

Retain – The company will continue to retain their leadership position in the segment where they are currently the leaders. This includes Honda Activa, which is India’s best selling automatic scooter, and Honda CB Shine (No 1, 125 cc motorcycle in the country).

Expand – The company wishes to expand their leadership position to more segments. For this, they have already started work on expanding production capacities. HMSI’s fourth plant will start production by the end of this year, while work to setup a fifth plant is already underway. By the end of FY 2016, HMSI production capacity will have increased by 39%.

Under Expand, the company also aims to add 800 more sales and service stations to their network. Most of this will be in the rural segment, where demand is going to increase more substantially. To reach out to the remotest of areas, HMSI plans to add 20 mobile service vans and 825 service on wheels.

New Honda CBR650F was on display at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo.

Create – This will see HMSI open new chapters. One of the most exciting is the launch of made in India CBR 650F sportsbike. In order to support after sales, Honda will launch premium dealerships across 20 top Indian cities. Rural areas will not get these dealerships as HMSI does not expect much demand for CBR 650F from those areas. Launch of Honda CBR 650F is to take place in July 2015.

Apart from this, HMSI also spoke about a new revolutionary new product, which will be previewed at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo. Honda refrained from divulging any more details about this new product.
