Honda at the 2012 China (Guangzhou) Auto Show

At the ongoing 2012 China (Guangzhou) Auto Show, Honda has announced commencement of local production of hybrid models in China. The company also unveiled its new ASIMO, a humanoid robot equipped with autonomous behavior control technologies, for first time outside of Japan at 10th Guangzhou International Auto Show.

Honda Motors held a press day on November 22, 2012, ahead of official opening on November 23rd to announce their products on display. Honda Insight and Honda Fit are part of the company’s lineup in hybrid segment which will be launched at affordable prices as the company commences local production in China in 2014.

Honda also has plans for setting up of a design studio by the end of 2012 which will strengthen production of models exclusively for China by Chinese designers. Honda Insight Hybrid is being launched at a price of 209,800 Yuan (INR 18.71 lakhs) while Fit Hybrid will be priced at 179,800 Yuan (INR 16.04 lakhs).

Honda Insight in China will be powered by an 88 hp 1.4L petrol engine and 14 hp electric motor that is also seen in the Fit. Fit Hybrid will be painted in green. Consumption will be at 4.7 liters per 100 kms and is imported into China unlike the normal Honda Fit which is produced in the country along with Guangzhou Honda joint venture.
