Honda Civic Type R unveiled in Geneva, exhaust note captured on video

Honda Civic Type R is powered by a turbocharged 2.0 liter VTEC TURBO four cylinder engine claiming peak power of 310 PS at 6,500 rpm and peak torque of 400 Nm at 2,500 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6 speed manual transmission which allows the Type R to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 5.7 seconds while top speed is at 270 kmph.

Exteriors features on board the Honda Civic Type R, which is being projected as a ‘race car for the road’ includes some attractive styling enhancements. It receives an aerodynamic body kit with new front bumpers, larger air intakes and a new front splitter while at the rear, ventilated front fenders, side skirts and flat underbody panels are evident. Sitting on 19” alloy wheels wrapped in specially engineered 235/35R19 tyres, Honda Civic Type R is being offered in five attractive exterior paints that include Champion White, Crystal Black (pearlescent), Polished Metal (metallic), Brilliant Sporty Blue (metallic) and Milano Red.

Interiors are well designed for comfort, style and performance with suede wrapped sports seats with red accents, leather wrapped sports steering wheel and shining aluminium gear knobs. Safety features include front and rear parking sensors, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning and Traffic Sign Recognition besides automatic headlights, rain sensing wipers and power folding door mirrors. Infotainment is in the form of a state of the art audio system with GPS navigation.

Enhanced performance for the new race car for the road is due to the inclusion of a four point Adaptive Damper System, Brembo front braking and Dual Asis Strut Front Suspension claiming to reduce torque steering by 50 percent.

No details on pricing has been revealed yet, it will be revealed closer to when the Honda Civic Type R goes on sale across Europe in Summer 2015.
