Honda India two wheeler sales up 43% in November 2013

Two wheeler majors Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) have recorded a 43% increase in sales during the month of November 2013. During the past month, the company sold a total of 3,19,080 units, up from 2,23,145 units sold in the same month last year.

Scooter and motorcycle sales increased significantly as motorcycle sales increased 39% to 1,50,995 units in November 2013 as compared to 1,08,403 units sold in November 2012. Scooter sales increased 46% from 1,14,742 units sold in November 2012 to 1,68,085 units in the last month. Taking sales during the festive season into account, the company sold a total of 80,000 units on the occasion of Dhanteras alone, which further emphasizes customer’s preferences to two wheelers during auspicious periods.

Increased customer demand and heavy bookings have led to a backlog of 1 lakh units. The company will be augmenting production to meet these increased demands and also have extensive expansion plans in place as they enter new markets and add to their existing networks which will be counterbalanced with sufficient after sales service.

Honda last week inaugurated their 10th New zonal office in Patna, Bihar. At present, HMSI operates through a Regional Headquarter for each of its 5 Regions in India, and new zonal offices are planned in a phased manner. These offices will be used as Honda Service Training Centers through which Honda will train and upgrade skills of network (Dealer, Sub-Dealer and Authorized Service Center personnel.
