Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India celebrates World Environment Day
Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) began its week long World Environment Day celebrations today at the Manesar Factory, Haryana and across its dealership network. Honda is celebrating “Environment Week from 5th June -11th June’14 with the theme “Raise your voice not the sea level”.
Keita Muramatsu- President & CEO, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India, flagged off the celebrations with a tree plantation at the factory. This was followed by environment pledge taken by all Honda associates to stay committed towards environment protection in their work areas and day to day lives.”
“Preserving the environment is top of the mind for us at Honda. As a responsible corporate, Honda announced it’s global vision of 30% CO2 reduction by 2020 and in India too, we are actively contributing to build a greener tomorrow. The same reflects in our processes, technology and plant architecture.” Mr. Keita Muramatsu said at the event. Mr.Keita Muramatsu, President & CEO, HMSI planted a tree to commemorate World Environment Day 2014.
Honda’s environment commitment is upheld through Green Factory, Green Dealer & Green Supplier concept. Waste Heat Recovery Boilers are used to recover waste energy, which is recycled and reused within the factory. Free PUC check-up, sapling distribution for customers will be conducted at dealerships. Clean up drives and tree planting will be carried out at public places. In collaboration with Haryana State Pollution Board (HSPCB), Honda is working on a campaign to use eco-friendly bags and non-usage of plastic bags.
