Honda Jazz Cross to be launched in Brazil, possibly in India as well

Yet to be launched in India, the new Honda Jazz hatchback has already been launched in major markets across the world. Now, in one of the markets where the Honda Jazz has been already launched, report has emerged that they will soon launch a pseudo crossover variant of the same in 2016.

Honda Jazz Cross front

In Brazil, Honda Jazz goes by the name Fit, just like in the US. It is here that the company plans to launch first ever pseudo crossover variant of new Jazz. To be called Honda Fit Twist, Noticias Automotivas reveals that the model will get a thorough makeover.

Honda Jazz Cross new exterior features will include skid plates in the front and rear bumper, plastic cladding on all sides, raised ground clearance, roof rails, sportier alloy wheel design, new grille, smoked headlamps, and ofcourse a raised ground clearance.

Considering that the auto market in Brazil is at a very similar stage of development as of India, it is very possible that the new Honda Fit Twist will also be launched in India. Though the demand for pseudo crossovers is still at a nascent stage, it is expected to grow exponentially in the future. In less than 2 years, 4 new pseudo crossovers have been launched in India.

Honda Jazz Cross rear

Here, if launched, Honda Cars India could opt for the name Jazz Cross. This has been the norm for a few manufacturers who have walked on this path. Toyota have Etios Cross, while Volkswagen have Cross Polo. The two others, Hyundai and Fiat, opted for a new name, i20 Active and Avventura respectively.

To be based on Honda Jazz, which will be launched in India by June 2015, newJazz Cross will get the same set of engines. Expect price to be in the range of Rs 6 – 9 lakhs.
