The new Jazz will be offered in both petrol and diesel engine options. Petrol engine will be a 1.2 liter four cylinder i-VTEC engine capable of 88 PS power and 109 Nm torque. Its diesel engine will be the same engine doing duty on the Amaze, City and Mobilio – 1.5 liter i-DTEC producing 100 PS power and 200 Nm torque. Honda Jazz could come in a price bracket of INR 5-7 lakhs and will compete in India with Maruti Swift, Hyundai Elite i20, VW Polo, Tata Bolt and Fiat Punto Evo.
2014 Honda Jazz in India will be based on the same platform as that of Honda City sedan. Though the previous Jazz was loved by customers, it was its high price tag which deterred it from getting more sales numbers. This time around, Honda India has attended that issue with extensive local procurement of parts.
Japanese automakers have seen increased sales in India over the past month, Toyota has beaten Tatra Motors to a fifth position while Honda Cars has surged past Mahindra & Mahindra to a third spot. Honda Cars have been doing well in India, specially where the passenger segment is concerned. During the month of July, sales in domestic markets grew 39.97% to 15,709 units as against 11,223 units sold in July 2013. Honda’s performance is primarily due to its diesel versions of Honda City, Amaze and Mobilio.
