2014 Honda Jazz is a mid-sized family hatchback which was first launched in Honda’s home country, Japan last year. To be launched in India early next year, new Honda Jazz made its debut in India at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo earlier this year.
In the coming days, Honda will launch 2014 Jazz in the US, where it will be called Fit. Video above was revealed by Honda America as a promotional TVC before the official launch of Jazz, showing what you can and cannot do with new Honda Jazz. Honda America has also launched an online configurator of 2014 Jazz, where interested customers can design their own Jazz at the click of a mouse.
Price of Jazz in the US ranges from $15,525 (Rs 9.21 lakhs) to $20,800 (Rs 12.33 lakhs). Honda will offer Jazz in three trims (LX, EX and EX-L) but with only one engine options, the new 1.5l iVTEC. Its new because this one generates 130 hp, which is 13 hp more than their previous engine. Transmission is in the form of a 6 speed of a CVT. Sadly, it is this old 1.5l engine generating 117 hp that is currently on offer in India with new City and same is expected to follow with new Jazz.
After the US, Jazz will be launched in Australia, where it will be priced from $14,990 for base model. Unlike US, Australia will get four trims of new Jazz – VTi manual $14,990 (Rs 8.5 lakhs), VTi CVT $16,990 (Rs 9.63 lakhs), VTi-S CVT $19,790 (Rs 11.32 lakhs), VTi-L CVT $22,490 (Rs 12.490 lakhs). Manual transmission is via 5 speed gearbox. Engine is in the form of a 1.5l iVTEC generating 117 hp and 145 Nm torque. Mileage for manual is at 16.12 kmpl, while that of CVT is at 17.24 kmpl.
Australia will also get a Hybrid variant, but only next year. Until then, the older gen hybrid variant of Jazz will continue to be on sale. As far as India is concerned, it will be the only country to get a diesel variant in the form of 1.5l Earth Dreams iDTEC generating 100 PS and 200 Nm torque.
