Honda Cars India is getting ready for launch of their two new cars in the form of Mobilio MPV and Jazz hatchback. While the Honda Mobilio will be entering production in June, the Jazz will commence production in July from the company plants in Greater Noida and Tapukara, Rajasthan respectively. Honda Mobilio is going to be launched first, while the Jazz will be launched afterwards.
Honda Mobilio MPV, once launched, will compete with Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Chevrolet Enjoy and Nissan Evalia. It will be based on Honda Brio platform, while it will have more enhanced dimensions as compared to the Amaze and Brio. With seating capacity of upto 7 adults and adequate boot space, the new Mobilio is pegged at being an ideal family vehicle.
Honda Mobilio will be offered in a choice of petrol and diesel engine option. For diesel engine, it will be the new 1.5l iDTEC engine, which is also the most fuel efficient in India. It delivers 100 PS power and 200 Nm torque. For petrol, Mobilio will most probably feature the 1.5l mill of the new City which delivers 119 PS @ 6600 rpm and 145 Nm torque @4600 rpm.
Speaking about the next car, the third generation Honda Jazz will be produced from the company’s new plant in Tapukara, Rajasthan. Jazz will be introduced with both petrol and diesel engine options. Diesel option will be the same as Mobilio’s, thus making it one of the most powerful diesel hatchbacks in its segment. Petrol option is expected to be 1.2l iVTEC borrowed from Brio. It generates 88 PS power and 109 Nm torque. Honda Jazz will go into production in July and will slot right in between Honda Brio and Amaze.
