Honda Mobilio spied on test in India for the first time

Already launched in Indonesia, and a few week’s away from its India launch, the first image of Honda Mobilio MPV while out on test, have surfaced. This is the very first time that the Honda Mobilio has been spied out on Indian roads. Before this, it was spied on the production line at the Greater Noida plant of Honda Car India.

Bearing no license plate, the image of Mobilio was clicked before it was going to be loaded on the truck, standing just ahead of it. It is believed that this particular Mobilio is on its way to dealerships across India.

Mobilio diesel will be powered by a 1.5 iDTEC engins generating 100 PS power and 200 Nm torque. This is the same engine which is seen on board the existing Amaze and City sedans. This engine is India’s most fuel efficient engine delivering a claimed mileage of 25.8 kmpl in the Amaze, and 26 kmpl in the City. No official word out on the mileage it will offer in the Mobilio, expect a minimum of 23 kmpl. Transmission option for this variant will only be a manual five speed gearbox.

honda mobilio spy shots india 3 rearThe other engine option to be on offer is expected to be either the 1.2l iVTEC or 1.5l iVTEC. Considering the competition in the segment, and Honda’s aim to launch Mobilio at a very competitive starting price, it might be the 1.2l which makes the cut. This mill powers the Brio and Amaze. It generates 88 PS power and 109 Nm torque. Mileage will be above 15 kmpl. Transmission options on offer for this variant will be in the form of five speed manual and CVT.

To be manufactured at their plant in Greater Noida, the new Honda Mobilio will compete with Maruti Suzuki Ertiga in the segment, which also includes the likes of Nissan Evalia and Chevrolet Enjoy. Launch price of Mobilio will be very similar to that of Ertiga, which is currently sold in the range of Rs 6.5 to Rs 9.5 lakhs.
