The Honda Motor Co. faces further loss in United States as the company expands the number of cars recalled to a whooping 3,79,000 vehicles. The decision to increase number of recalled vehicles was made this Tuesday in order to replace an airbag deflator, which could break and send its particles towards the person in the driver seat during an accident.
Till now, according to Honda Motors, 1 death and 11 injury cases have been reported, which have been directly linked to this flaw in Honda cars. This recall started back in November 2008 and was further increased in July, 2009.
About 8, 26,000 vehicles were affected in the US due to these recalls. The recent expansion is applied to the 2001 -2002 model Accord, CRV, and Civic along with the 2002 model Acura TL cars.
Honda identified the problem was due to a deteriorating propellant in the airbag which made the airbag deploy with great force causing them to rupture during an accident.
