What exactly can one expect in the new Honda Urban SUV Concept as it gets ready to reveal itself at the upcoming North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) to be held in Detroit in January 2013? Japanese automakers have teased a sketch of the small but sporty and adventurous SUV which tells little of its exterior makeup or engine updates.

Earlier information received from the company in September stated that Honda would be launching this small SUV with spacious interiors based on the same platform seen in Honda Fit or as it is known in India, Honda Jazz subcompact. It is also expected that production version of the concept will be manufactured from company plant in Celaya, Mexico. This facility has recently seen an investment of $800 million by Honda which has been earmarked for production of three new Jazz variants, including a sedan option.

The upcoming Honda New Urban SUV Concept powerplant would also probably be borrowed from the Jazz EV all electric system that has a 118 MPGe rating. While more details will be revealed early next year, Honda has stated that the new Urban SUV Concept will enter markets within the coming two years after launch of the new Fit/Jazz in 2013.
