2013 Dakar Rally, scheduled for January 5th to 20th, 2013 at the course from Lima to Santiago will see top auto companies contend for battle for the honors. The release of start list reveals many contenders with Honda entering as official motorcycle manufacturers as they take on KTM and Carlos Sainz with Nasser Al Attiyah.
The 35th edition will be seen heading out from the Pacific coast in Lima for the first time since its commencement. It will follow a north south direction true to tradition while this system was not followed ever since Dakar came to South America in 2009. When taking Peru’s geographical conditions into account, contenders will have to tackle sand dunes, desert, harsh weather conditions and rocky and mountainous terrain as they pass through Andes and Argentina.
A journey through San Miguel de Tucumán will give the racers some respite before they once again have to face the sandy dunes of Fiambalá and Copiapó on the last leg of their journey to Santiago on January 20th. 459 vehicles at start line representing 53 different countries will contend with each other through this grueling race in motorcycle, car, and truck category.
