Hyundai Creta production increased to meet demand: Bookings cross 27,000

Hyundai Creta has had a successful start in India with outstanding sales in the very first week of launch. By 31st July 2015, Hyundai Creta sales in India had reached 8,424 units. This is the best sales performance (first month) by an SUV in the history of Indian auto industry.

Comparing Creta’s first month performance with rivals – Renault Duster registered sales of 1,194 units, Ford EcoSport registered 4,715 units and Nissan Terrano registered 3,079 units. Not only this, Hyundai Creta sales were head and shoulders above Mahindra Bolero, which India’s largest selling SUV for over a decade.

Till now, Hyundai India have received bookings of 27,000 units for the Creta. This has pushed waiting period up to 10 months for the automatic variant in some cities, while on average the wait period stands at up to 4 months across India. In order to meet this rising demand, Hyundai has ramped up production of Creta at its Chennai plant from a current 5,500 units to 7,500 units per month. This will help reduce waiting period to an extent.

The new Hyundai Creta is set to increase company’s domestic sales targets to around 4.8 lakh units for 2015, which will allow the company to post double digit growth this calendar year.
