New Hyundai i10, also known as Grand i10, is being produced at Turkey plant of Hyundai and exported to all European countries. Hyundai Assan (Turkey) invested 508 million Euros (Rs. 4,142 crores approx.) to be able to build 200,000 cars per annum and to enhance subsidiary industry backings.
Elite i20 is expected to take a larger share of European market, given that its styling and features were carefully planned to suit buyers’ interests there. Hyundai’s Design Center in Rüsselsheim, Germany created the Elite i20.
The South Korean manufacturer’s new B segment premium hatchback is based on a new platform. Second generation i20 is 4035 mm long, with wheelbase of 2570 mm (45 mm longer than first generation version). While Indian market receives same i20 at 3,985 mm length to tap excise duty benefits for sub-4 metre cars. This resulted in decrease of boot volume of Elite i20 to 285 litres from 326 litres to be offered in European markets.
