Hyundai Grand i10 sedan AT caught testing

Spy-shots of the new Hyundai Grand i10 Automatic sedan, currently on test in Chennai, have surfaced online. This upcoming sub 4 meter sedan, is going to be launched in 4th February, on the eve of 2014 Delhi Auto Expo.

To garner the attention of a younger and more adventurous set of customers, the Hyundai Grand i10 Automatic sedan will be powered by the same petrol engine as seen on board the hatchback model. These will be in the form of a 1.2 liter 4 cylinder offering peak power of 82 bhp and peak torque of 114 Nm. A diesel engine option will also be on the cards, but this will come only with manual option. It is a 1.1 liter 4 cylinder engine offering 70 bhp and 160 Nm torque.

Being in a sub 4 meter category will mean that Hyundai Grand i10 Automatic Sedan will be able to take advantage of certain tax cuts prevalent in the country, which will ensure that the upcoming model will be reasonably priced. It will compete with the likes of Honda Amaze and Maruti Swift DZire in the segment.

Hyundai Grand i10 launched earlier this year has received overwhelming response in India. The company has sold a total of 32,784 units in the period September to November 2013, which is what has pushed to company to launch a compact sedan version of the model. This new sedan will be unveiled on February 4, 2014 while it will be on display at the Delhi Auto Expo 2014, India’s flagship biennial automotive expo to be held at Greater Noida from February 6-12, 2014.
