Expected to be slightly larger than the outgoing i20, 2015 Hyundai i20 bears various features borrowed from Grand i10. Some include, a hexagonal airdam, thin front grille and flared headlamps. To be launched in various variants, the top end variant will sport chrome door handles, diamond cut alloy wheels and wing mirrors with integrated turn signals. The rear end gets a sporty stance and will see new tail light design while interiors receive a totally different dashboard with enhanced equipments as compared to its current counterpart.
Based on a new platform, the 2015 i20 will launched in both petrol and diesel engine options and Hyundai is expected to maintain the engine options to the same 1.2 liter petrol and 1.4 liter diesel engines mated to 5 and 6 speed manual gearboxes respectively. A 1.4 liter petrol engine mated to only an automatic gearbox will also be on offer.
2015 Hyundai i20 is slated to come in at an expected price between INR 5-8 lakhs and will face competition from Maruti Swift, Fiat Punto, Volkswagen Polo and the soon to be launched Tata Bolt and Honda Jazz. India will be the first market for the new i20 while it will make its European premiere in October at the 2014 Paris Motor Show.
Speaking to Hyundai dealers in India, they have confirmed that a new i20 will be launched before 15th August. Production of existing i20 ended earlier this month, while it is only available in limited numbers at a few number of dealerships across India as of now. All indicating at the imminent launch of new i20, which you can see in the image gallery below.
