Hyundai i20 Sport with 115 PS 6 Speed MT launched in South Africa

Hyundai i20 with N Sport package has been launched. Seen with a sports body kit and host of sporty on-board equipment along with a more powerful engine, the new Hyundai i20 Sport is on sale only in South Africa.

Powered by the same 1.4l (1,368 cc), the i20 N-Sport delivers 85 kW (115 PS) and 160 Nm torque; instead of the 74 kW (100 PS) and 133 Nm torque delivered by the standard variant. Power is still transferred to the front wheels, via six speed manual in the case of N Sport i20.

The new Hyundai i20 N Sport, the sporty version of the i20 hatchback receives 17” alloy wheels, sports body kit with side skirts, sporty front and rear bumper trims and new rear boot spoiler. It is also receives a stainless steel free flow CAT back exhaust system and distinctive ‘N’ badges on front mudguards and rear hatchback door to set it apart from the i20 counterpart.

Apart from more power, other changes include stiffer spring setup and 4 wheel electronic 4 channel ABS with EBD. Ventilated disc brakes are seen in the front while solid disc brakes are at the rear.

Pricing of the new Hyundai i20 N Sport is at R 235,500 (approximately INR 11.68 lakhs) which include warranty and roadside assistance for a period of 5 years or 150000 kms and a service plan for 3 years or 60,000 kms. This means the i20 N Sport is costlier by R 21,500 (INR 1.06 lakhs) when compared to the standard i20.

Hyundai i20 N Sport is limited only to South Africa for now, while launch in India is not yet on the cards. Known as the Elite i20 in India, it comes with choice of 1.2 liter petrol and 1.4 liter diesel engine.
