Hyundai India to launch one car every year in new segment: Elite i20 to be India’s most premium hatch
In a bid to increase their market share as against the leaders Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai India will launch at least one new car every year in a segment where they are not present currently. This plan came into effect this year with the launch of Grand i10 based sedan, Xcent earlier this year.
Next in line under this strategy is a compact SUV which will compete with the likes of Renault Duster, Ford EcoSport and Nissan Terrano. Most likely this will be in the form of Hyundai ix25, which will be launched in China next month (see image above). It is this compact SUV, or a new one built on the Grand i10 and Xcent platform which will be launched in India next year.
As of now, the company is working towards launching the new i20. Named Elite i20, Hyundai will launch their new car on 11th August 2014. Elite i20 will come in to enhance positioning of Hyundai i20 as the most premium hatchback in India.
Hyundai Elite i20 owes its design to Hyundai Motor’s Design Centre Europe in Russelsheim, Germany. Being a very significant product for the company, is why global launch is happening in India, just like the Grand i10 last year. Bookings have opened and new customers in both rural areas and among the corporate segment are being sought. Hyundai looks forward to the new Elite i20 resulting in the company not only increasing its market share but also in increased volumes and a target of new buyers.
