Hyundai rolls out 1 millionth car from Czech plants, and it’s 2013 i30

Hyundai’s manufacturing facility in Nošovice, Czech Republic is barely five years old, and has achieved a major highlight with the production of its 1 millionth vehicle. The first car rolled off the production line in November 2008, while the special 1 millionth car rolled out on 16th May 2013, in the form of a new generation i30.

The company has invested €1.2 billion in this plant which has been reaching major milestones in the past few years. By 2010, the plant was producing 200,000 units annually due to the fact that the company added a second shift. In 2011, the company added a third shift thereby augmenting production to the tune of 300,000 units in 2012.

The plant has total employee strength of 3,500 persons and has a turnover of €3.2 billion with annual salaries reaching close to €47 million. The Hyundai Nošovice plant, along with the Turkey plant produces 70% of the company’s vehicles for the European markets.
