When all cars manufacturers are facing a tough time selling cars in US, Hyundai Sonata defied the trend. Registering sales of 21,399 units for the month of August, Hyundai managed a huge 81% increase in sales but when compared to the sales figures of August 2009, Hyundai were behind by 11%.
Hyundai managed to sell a total of 53,603 cars in August which incidentally is also the second best August sales figures in the company's history. Hyundai are also expecting to break the annual sales record for Sonata this year. Hyundai have already sold more Sonata than they managed to sell in 2008 or 2009 and still a quarter of this year is remaining.
As of now record for most sales done in a year for Sonata stands at 149,513 in 2006 and this year, till August, Hyundai sold 128,484 Sonata in US. Mr Dave Zuchowski, Hyundai Sales VP said in a release, "Consumer demand for our products remains strong, and as we take aggressive action to increase production of high-demand vehicles and improve dealer supply, we feel we're well-positioned for growth over the remaining four months of this year. We're preparing to launch our flagship Equus sedan and are introducing three additional new products to our lineup in the fourth quarter, backed by an ambitious media plan to ensure we maintain our momentum in the face of challenging market conditions."
