2020 Hyundai Verna detailed in new photos – Front, rear, interiors

Hyundai Verna sedan, launched in India in 2017, has now received a facelift. The first official unveiling has taken place at the Chengdu Motor Show in China. India debut is expected to take place in Feb 2020, at the 2020 Auto Expo in Delhi.

The 2020 Hyundai Verna facelift boasts of a radically new design. This is not only in terms of its exterior and interior features but also where its dimensions are concerned. The exteriors are seen with a new front bumper design dominated by a large trapezoidal front grille.

It gets thicker chrome slats, triple pod headlamps, a wider central air dam, new tail lamps with a thin LED strip running across the width, a sunroof and shark fin antenna. It will also get new alloys wheels finished in a monotone colour scheme. Top variants will get dual tone machine cut alloys.

The interiors are also updated with an 8” touchscreen infotainment system borrowed from the recently launched Elantra. The India spec model will get Hyundai BlueLink from the Venue and other interior updates such as ventilated front seats and wireless charging. In terms of safety, the updates will include a total of 6 airbags, cruise control, speed alert, ABS and EBD.

Dimensions increase marginally to 4,450mm in length which is longer than its predecessor by around 25mm while width continues at 1,720mm and height at 1,455mm along with wheelbase at 2,600mm.

The engine options will also be updated to meet BS6 emission norms. The India spec model will get 1.5 liter petrol and diesel engines which also power the Kia Seltos currently. The petrol engine makes 115 bhp power and 144 Nm torque while the diesel engine will be capable of 115 bhp power and 250 Nm torque. The former will get transmission options of 6 speed manual or CVT. While the latter will either be mated to 6 MT or 6 AT.

The 2020 Hyundai Verna facelift will be launched in China by the end of this year while launch in India will take place before 1st April 2020, when the BS6 norms are implemented. It will compete with the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Skoda Rapid, upcoming 2020 Honda City, Toyota Yaris and Volkswagen Vento. Expect prices of 2020 Hyundai Verna sedan to be in the Rs 8.5 lakhs to Rs 14 lakh region.
