Once the leader in its segment, Hyundai Verna was toppled from the top spot once Honda launched new City earlier this year. In the first six months this year, Honda City sales have crossed 45,600 units, while that of Verna have touched 21,000 units. Considering that the demand in this segment is on the rise, Hyundai would surely be tempted to launch a facelift as soon as possible.
Hyundai Verna did receive a facelift earlier this year. But that was a minor one. The facelift Verna which was launched in Russia, features a completely revised front facade, larger headlamp casing, dual slats in the grille which gives the car a more premium look. Housing for fog lights too has been restyled, which now features wider air dam and integrated LED DRLs. Rear look too has been revised with new tail-lights, lowered boot lip, and lowered bumper with restyled reflectors.
As far as engine options are concerned, Verna facelift will continue with the same range as seen on the existing variant. 1.4l and 1.6l VTVT petrol units generating 107 PS and 123 PS respectively, while 1.4l and 1.6l CRDi generating 90 PS and 128 PS respectively. Price too is expected to be in the same range as current variant, Rs 7-10 lakhs. The only update expected mechanically, is the new 6 speed automatic gearbox now seen on the facelift in Russia. India too will get the same.
